Happy New Year Everyone!
Yes, I am aware that I am a little behind with writing about the new year. I, like many people, was incredibly affected by the new year and new moon on January 1st. A lot of change, a lot of questioning, a lot of turmoil, and a lot of trust and faith to make necessary decisions. Having a new moon on the eve of the new year is a very rare event – hence why this year is all about new beginnings and new growth. The last two years (2012 of being endings and 2013 of being change) has really laid the ground work for this year to be the year of growth. It’s time to implement those changes you’ve always contemplated – it’s time to refresh, replenish, and relive.
So some tips for carrying into the new year, on the theme of growth and beginnings
1. Growth implies leaving the past behind. Yes it’s always good to reflect on how much you’ve grown and also the hardships you’ve managed, but “reflect” is different then “retain”. Focusing on the past stunts growth – let go and let grow.
2. Focus on what nourishes you. You need nourishment to grow (just like a plant needs sun and food). Keep those relationships, ideas, jobs, titles that nourish you and release those things which hinder you. If you don’t feel happy or vitalized with a certain relationship (whether it be romantic, friendship, acquaintance or job) let it go. Only keep those relationships which nourish you.
3. Take that leap. This is the year to explore and try new things. Seize opportunities that come your way and look at them with pure objectivity and no judgement. This is how you make new connections, new opportunities, and new beginnings.
4. Treat yourself well. Save your energy, as it’s your most treasured gift, and only spend it on things that are worthy of your energy. Value your energy and spend it like currency on things that are most important/necessary to you.
Step out of your comfort zone, embrace change, and allow yourself to grow!
