So this morning I was shook out of my bed by a mini earthquake (later to find out it was 4.8 on the Richter scale). It was almost as this earthquake shook me mentally as well considering this is the first post I’ve done in months. Yes, I need to write more often and be more proactive, message received (and thank you).
An earthquake is caused by a sudden release of vibrant energy from the earth’s crust (usually in a fault line, where tectonic plates meet), creating seismic waves. Seismic waves are waves of energy that travel through the Earth’s layers, resulting in an earthquake, explosion, or a volcano that imparts low-frequency acoustic energy. Because they are low grade waves felt beneath the earth, this is why some individuals can feel or sense an earthquake or explosion before it happens (they are grounded individuals who are sensitive to subtle changes in vibrational energy). The eruption and change in seismic energy may explain why those sensitive to changes in energy may experience dreams, visions, headaches, tinnitus, anxiety and dizziness before an earthquake (they feel the disresonance of the underlying earth’s energy which manifests into physical symptoms).
Think of what an earthquake is – an eruption of energy. It results from a slight change in the earth’s geography. The energy within can only be contained so long until it needs to be released in some form. An analogy which comes to mind is a pseudocalm person that holds in all of their emotions, where all of a sudden the smallest thing happens (like someone cutting them off on the highway) and they erupt (horn honking, finger waving, screaming, high beam flashing). But after the eruption, they feel better. They release all those feelings they have been suppressing, and they come out in an explosive form. Is this healthy? Goodness, no. Though, through this experience they learn to express their emotions rather than erupt, so they don’t erupt again. Releasing that negative explosive energy is necessary to learn, change and grow.
After the mini earthquake I experienced, I was curious as to learn what earthquakes mean energetically or spiritual (as I already understood the science behind it, but as I’ve learned in life all things have meanings at different levels – mental, emotional, physical and spiritual). Looking at dream symbolism (ie. the spiritual or mental-emotional level), earthquakes mean = change. The solid ground we stand on is compromised, and we struggle to remain upright. They are unpredictable and destructive. What we thought was solid and dependable is shaken. Destruction and unpredictability is scary, but necessary for change. Things need to be broken in order to create pieces to make something new. We just need to trust in the change.
Who knew that their could be some much meaning behind an earthquake? I had no idea until I researched into it and thought about the significance. All which would have never happened had I not been shook out of bed today.
