So going with the whole “Hallowe’en” theme, I decided to spotlight skull-cap (or Scutellaria). As noted by the eclectics, plants tend to physically resemble what they are used for. Skull cap is tubed shaped and splits into two lobes – almost resembling a brainstem (tube) and brain (two lobes = two hemispheres of the brain). Of course, noted by it’s name and physical appearance, skullcap is amazing for the brain! More specifically it is a great nervine (calms the nervous system, calms the brain), and treats a wide range of nervous conditions such as: anxiety, insomnia, tremors, hysteria, epilepsy, ADD, schizophrenia, and headaches. Skull is the cap for the brain, hence skull-cap is good for conditions originating from the brain!
